Over the
years Bobby has developed into a dynamic nightclub singer
and saxophonist
with a musical range that includes jazz, standards,
blues, and especially
his favorites Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and
Bobby Darin. Bobby started his
career headlining at the Play
Boy Club, the Peppermint Lounge, Radio City
Music Hall (198 shows),
The Sheridan in Atlanta, the Out Rigger, Prince
Kuhio Hotel, the
Intercontinental Hotel, Maui and the Royal Hawaiian Hotel
on
Oahu.
In 1984 Bobby was asked to come to Hilton Head where he had a
14-year run at the Mariners Inn (currently the Hilton Resort) as
its
headline act. He raised a family on the island and his
popularity has made
him an island fixture.
Bobby is one of those truly talented professionals
who will
captivate an audience with his energy and talent. Bobby has
recorded five CDs, "Bobby Ryder and Casablanca", "Back to the
Shore", "Sax
in the City", "Thanks for the Memories", and his
latest release "Keeping it
Alive" recorded live at The Jazz Corner,
Hilton Head Island, SC.
"Bobby
never fails to impress me. I love the new CD,
'Keeping it Alive' and that
great smokin' band behind him". Monty

I
knew the food would be outstanding, its one of my favorite restaurants on Hilton
Head, but the ambiance that Bobby Ryder created was just more than I expected.
They're thinking of adding live entertainment, and this was the first night
Bobby entertained. The title of the program was 'The Rat Pack' and their music.
His performance lent itself so beautifully to the music of those bygone legends.
As an Italian restaurant, the ambiance along with the delicious food made the
evening one to be remembered for a long time. Here's hoping they do more of
these kinds of evenings. We were with wonderful friends, we were all blown
away.

Jorge, our server, was outstanding. The food was outstanding. We
saw Bobby Ryder and the show was outstanding. This is a must see if you like big
band-swing type music. I think even the younger crowd would enjoy it. The
club/restaurant is small so you must make a reservation as it fills up fast.
Will be going back to this many more
times

Last evening at The Jazz Corner was the best Donna and I have had in the 7 years
we've been coming to HHI.
Amy stopped by and said hello and Bobby recognized
Donna from the stage as "the folks who were lucky enough to be renting his good
friends Anne Marie& Lou Lento's beautiful home in Palmetto Dunes, where he
had slept in every bedroom". It was like being introduced to the other members
of "THE CLUB". A very nice touch,thank-you so much.
There was an older gal
with red hair who thanked us for coming, we had a group of 8, drinkers all. She
seemed like the owner???
The food was excellent, the drinks were
plentiful and a wonderful time was had by all of us. Donna et moi stayed through
the second set. We were having such a good time we did'nt want our evening to
end. We are members of Bobby's fan club from now on.
Thanks again for the
intro to Jazz Corner, we wish we had more time here to revisit. The friends who
live here that were with us had such a good time they are talking about Bobby's
"Bobby Darin Revue" already. I'm a major Darin fan and I'm jealous of their
going. When you are next talking with Bobby please give him our thanks for a
GREAT time and our best wishes.
Talk to you soon. Cheers,
Ray
Now,
for the entertainment.....The
night we were there, it was a trio of a bass, piano, and drums, all great
musicians, and Bobby
Ryder, as the singer and saxophone player. He has so much
personality, and ENERGY, and is one of the few musicians who can actually play
2 saxophones at the same time, which he did!! Pretty amazing! Great voice,
great range of songs played this night, from jazz to Bobby Darin, to Frank
Sinatra, to even a medley that included all of the above plus a little of Beer
Barrel Polka, and later "Splish/Splash", and Neil Diamond, so something for
EVERYBODY to love! The owner, Bob, also took the stage for a short time, playing
a "flugelbone", which I had never seen before but learned is a slideless
marching trombone. Superb music from all 5 musicians! Really a fantastic show,
and EVERYBODY had a great time!

The king of entertainment and
excitement will be on stage shortly at The Jazz Corner. Bobby Ryder and quartet
weave through a varied book of Darin,Sinatra, Martin, sprinkled with interesting
instrumentals. All of that in one night is a blast. Drop by a little later in
the evening around 9:45.
